Unplanned rain meant a spontaneous change of subject…popped in to our local Sea-o-Shell seafood exporters for a kilo of mussels in an inspiring red net bag. (Every week they ship huge container trucks packed high with crabs and lobsters from our west coasts to Spain…don’t believe it when they say it’s local Spanish produce.)
I cooked the mussels, chopped the chives and baked the bread at coffee break. Set the scene for painting…exchanging the net bag for a red and white checked tablecloth and composing a cooking series of shapes; I always get a kick watching how each person tackles it so differently in paint, loose brush marks I cried! I love mussels, these were big and a beautiful coral orange…and tasty after they’d been drawn.
